At Immowelt, part of the Aviv Group, you'll work on one of Europe's leading real estate platforms, serving over 50 million monthly users across both B2C and B2B journeys.

We're looking for a hands-on Engineering Manager / Lead Engineer with a strong technical foundation and leadership mindset to guide a cross-functional team. You'll own team performance, predictable delivery, and engineering quality, while still contributing to architecture and code where it matters most.

You'll report to the Engineering Director and work closely with Product, Design, and Analytics to drive meaningful business impact.

In This Role, You Will

Team Leadership & People Development

• Lead and grow a high-performing mobile engineering team (4–9 engineers) spanning iOS and Android, providing clear direction, focus, and context
• Hire, mentor, and develop engineers through continuous feedback and performance conversations, regardless of their platform specialisation
• Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, and engineering excellence across both platforms
• Ensure accountability for outcomes, quality, and predictable delivery
  
  

Delivery & Execution

• Own end-to-end delivery, including planning, prioritisation, and dependency management across iOS and Android workstreams
• Proactively manage risks, remove blockers, and ensure timely execution
• Partner with Product to define roadmaps and OKRs
• Communicate progress, trade-offs, and outcomes to stakeholders
  
  

Technical Leadership (hands-on ~40%)

• Contribute to architecture, prototypes, and critical code paths where your background allows, regardless of platform
• Validate technical solutions across service design, integrations, and data models shared between iOS and Android
• Ensure alignment between technical initiatives and product priorities
• Ensure close collaboration between product and tech, starting with you and the product managers in your team
  
  

Engineering Excellence

• Continuously improve engineering practices (code reviews, testing, CI/CD, observability, incident management) across both mobile platforms
• Build scalable, reliable, and maintainable systems following clean architecture principles
• Drive performance optimisation and cost efficiency
• Champion modern development practices, including AI-assisted workflows
• Focus yourself and your team on outcomes rather than activity, aggressively prioritising what the team works on
  
  

The Skills You Bring

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, ideally with exposure to mobile development (iOS, Android, or both)
• 2+ years of people management experience with ownership of team outcomes
• Proven track record of delivering high-quality software in a predictable way
• A deep understanding of engineering principles and practices relevant to the mobile domain — you don't need to be a specialist in both iOS and Android, but you're technically confident enough to understand the ins and outs of a project and the associated issues on either platform
• Experience mentoring engineers on best practices, including those working on a platform you're less familiar with
• Ability to balance process and pragmatism — improving quality without adding unnecessary complexity
• Ability to collaborate with stakeholders to prioritise projects based on business impact and technical feasibility, and to define project scope, objectives, and success criteria
• Experience with modern cloud environments (AWS or similar), CI/CD, and containerisation
• Familiarity with observability and operational excellence practices
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills (English required; German is a plus)
• Curiosity and adaptability to quickly learn new technologies and domains

Our mobile stack includes native iOS (Swift) and native Android (Kotlin), backed by services built with Node.js, TypeScript, AWS (API Gateway, Lambda, SNS/SQS, DynamoDB, ECS/Fargate), Docker, GitHub, CircleCI, and Terraform.
