Strengthen our Platform Engineering Team in full-time (40 hrs./week) as DevOps Engineer (m/f/d) within Germany remotely or at one of our office locations.
This role focuses on designing scalable platform components, enabling developer autonomy, and driving secure, observable infrastructure for GenAI workloads.
Your tasks
- Build and maintain reusable platform components such as Terraform modules, CI/CD workflows, and configuration templates.
- Support and extend our observability setup (dashboards, alerts, metrics) to keep platform behavior transparent and actionable.
- Provision and manage AWS infrastructure using established DevOps practices and existing standards.
- Apply security and compliance guardrails within our automation and runtime systems.
- Operate and improve our Kubernetes (EKS) environments and GitOps-based deployments, with guidance from senior engineers.
- Participate in the L1 DevOps on-call rotation, sharing incident response and first-line support with the team.
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience as a DevOps Engineer, Cloud Engineer, or in a similar infrastructure role.
- Working knowledge of Terraform and CI/CD tooling (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar).
- Practical experience with Kubernetes — you can deploy, troubleshoot, and manage workloads confidently.
- Experience with at least one major cloud provider, ideally AWS.
- Familiarity with observability tools (e.g. Datadog, Grafana, CloudWatch) and an understanding of why monitoring matters.
- Awareness of infrastructure security fundamentals (IAM, secrets management, network basics).
- Willingness to join an on-call rotation and learn structured incident response.
- Curiosity about GenAI/data workloads is a bonus — no prior experience needed.
- Good communication skills and a collaborative mindset; you ask questions, document your work, and enjoy learning from experienced colleagues.
- Motivation to grow toward a senior role with mentoring from our senior and staff engineers.
- Be you at IU: We support and empower you to achieve your personal and professional goals. After all, your happiness significantly contributes to a positive and productive environment.
